Emperor Valens – (G-F)
Valens, born in Cibalae in 328 AD, was made co-emperor by his older brother Valentinian I and put in charge of the eastern part of the empire in 364. He ruled over the whole empire after his brother’s death in 375.
The Valens aqueduct in Constantinople, which is still partially preserved, is the most significant testimony of his rule.Adrianople, now Edirne in Turkey, was the capital of the Thracian Odrysian kingdom with the name “Odrysia” from the 5th to the 3rd century BC.
